Vive la Vinité! Our Bastille Day Auction Is Now Live
A Revolutionary Line-Up of French Wine Now Pouring Online
This Bastille Day, we’ve waved the tricolour and thrown open the cellar doors to the finest of France. From Bordeaux bling to sassy Southern stars, Champagnes to serious Burgundies - it’s all up for grabs in our All-French Bastille Day Wine Auction, is open for bids, closing 7 pm Monday 14 July.
And to sweeten the guillotine?
We’ve dropped the buyer’s fee to just 12.5% + GST.
Here’s a region-by-region look at what’s on the table (or decanting into your dreams):
Champagne: Fizz first, naturally.
We’ve got multi-vintage bubbles, a couple of special growers (you know who you are), and old-school bottles with serious aging potential. A toast to liberté.
Burgundy: Be still our beating Pinot hearts.
There’s Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos de la Roche, and some cheeky Bourgogne from producers who know how to sous bois like the best of them. This is Burgundy with both swagger and soul and a few bottles to lay down if you're feeling patient.
Beaujolais: Cru not cru-shy.
There’s Morgon with spine, Fleurie with flair, and a handful of bottles that remind us why Gamay is always the most fun guest at the party.
Rhône Valley: North or south? Why choose?
In the north: classic Syrah from Cote Rotie and Cornas, all cracked pepper and violets.
In the south: brooding Châteauneuf-du-Pape and spicy Côtes du Rhône that scream for slow-roast lamb and a second glass.
Bordeaux: Grand. Glorious. Generous.
We’ve got 96 Mouton. We’ve got left bank and right bank. We’ve got Merlot, Cab, the odd Sauternes lurking in the shadows. In short: if your cellar has a Bordeaux-shaped gap, this is your moment.
Languedoc-Roussillon: The wild ones.
Big, bold, sun-kissed reds from the Mediterranean coast, with a price point that’ll make you double-check your glasses (the drinking kind and the seeing kind).
Loire Valley
Vouvray from its ancestral home. Some flinty, some floral, all fabulous. Plus a few reds for those in the know.
Alsace: Hello, aromatics.
Rieslings with razor-sharp acidity, a couple of spicy Gewürztraminers, and maybe a wine that smells like a herb garden after rain. If you know, you know.
Provence & Corsica: Rosé?
Oui, but also: sneaky reds and sun-baked whites. Wines for late lunches that turn into dinners. Not a bad vibe, really.
She’s a classy line up this Bastille Day .. almost as good as the rugby lineup!!
As with buying any second-hand goods there can be risk. This risk can be mitigated through reviewing widely available vintage reports and critic reviews and imposing realistic expectations. You will also notice that our photographs of each new lot are very detailed, helping you to inspect the wine from the comfort of your seat. The reward however, of a fine wine at its absolute peak of maturity, offering its full range of primary, secondary and tertiary flavours should be significant enough for most to negate the occasional disappointment. So, if the risk-reward scales are deemed favourable, we have a lovely selection of wines at various stages of maturity available in our current auction.
Happy browsing and please bid responsibly.
All bids are binding.
