While spring is almost here, we still have more than a handful of cool nights to wait out and so with that in mind we’ve put together an incredible collection of wines to fill the cellar in our Late Winter Rare & Fine Wine Live Auction. This auction is being hosted from our Eden Terrace HQ on Tuesday 4 August from 6pm NZST. This auction has 340+ lots from almost every corner of the wine world and has especially strong offerings of Waiheke Reds, Californian Chardonnay, Piedmontese Reds, grower and prestige cuveé Champagne and has one of the richest offerings of Beaujolais we’ve ever offered. The pièce de résistance is a 9 bottle Groupe Duclot Bordeaux Prestige Collection Case featuring 9 bottles from the 2007 vintage which features one bottle of all six First Growth reds plus bottles of La Mission Haut-Brion, Petrus and Chateau d’Yquem. It could make quite the dinner party!

New Zealand
As is our custom, we kick off close to home with nine vintages of Stonyridge Larose, eight various bottlings from Destiny Bay and five vintages of Te Whau the Point making up the lion’s share of our offering of classic NZ Bordeaux Blends. These are joined by ‘09 St Nesbit and Hawke’s Bay wines from Te Mata, Sacred Hill and Craggy (both Merlot-driven Sophia and Cabernet-blend The Quarry).
Craggy Ranges flagship Martinborough wine Aroha also features heavily in our NZ Pinot Noir offering alongside bottles of Devotus, Bell Hill, Felton Road and more. Syrah follows with a strong offering of icon wines including Le Sol, Homage and Bullnose.
Our Chardonnay offering (almost) stretches the length and breadth of the country with wines from Kumeu River, Matawhero, Ata Rangi, Tony Bish and Clearview representing the North Island and multiple single vineyard offerings from Marlborough's Clayvin Vineyard (Fromm and Giesen) sitting side by side with wines from Dog Point, Pegasus Bay and Bell Hill including a single bottle of the already legendary ‘16 Limeworks Chardonnay.
Australia
When it comes to Australian wine in our August live auction, “there's no school like the old school” with multiple classic bottlings (Bin 407, Bin 60a, RWT and Grange from the likes of Penfolds going back to the RP97-scoring 1982 Grange. If you are looking for other gems from the cellar there is also a ‘82 Wynns Cabernet and a trio of Taltarni Cabernet (1979, 1982 and 1984).
USA
One word: Chardonnay! Look out for single vineyard bottlings from Santa Barbara’s Au Bon Climat and Clendenen Family Vineyards alongside Napa’s iconic Duckhorn Chardonnay
Italy
If the USA is about Chardonnay in our August, then Italy is (almost) all Piedmont. We have Barolo from Elio Altare, Bruno Giacosa, Guiseppe Rinaldi, Giacomo Conterno and, of course, Angelo Gaja. Likewise there is a stunning range of Cru Barbaresco from Falletto di Giacosa, Produttori and Sottimano. As well as these, we have Langhe and Roero Rosso (both 100% Nebbiolo), Dolcetto and bottles of 02 Ornellaia and Vie di Romans Sauvignon from Friuli.
Spain
Spain brings a small but highly rewarding offering of iconic powerhouse reds: Vega-Sicilia Único from the Ribera de Duero, CVNE and Muga Rioja, Clos Mogador and Terroir Al Limit from Priorat and a 1996 bottling of Mauro VS from Castilla y Leon.
France
Our selection of the fine wines of France starts with a pop: Champagne! We have multiple vintages of Dom Perignon and MV, Vintage and Clos du Mesnil from Krug. On the grower champagne front you’ll find wines from several top producers: Vilmart, Egly-Ouriet, Pascal Agrapart, Les Closiere by Jerome Prevost and Pierre Peters.
These are followed by Rhone wines including Chateauneuf from Clos des Pape, Pegau and Pierre Usseglio which are joined by Cote Rotie from Guigal and Hermitage from Chapoutier including the RP100 1995 vintage. Whites come in the form of the incredibly well reviewed 2020 Chave Hermitage Blanc (80% Marsanne / 20% Roussane) alongside Viognier from Condirieu and Marsanne from St Peray.
You’ll find a wonderful selection of Burgundy, both white and red. The lineup includes wines from top producers like JF Mugnier, Leroy, Francois Raveneau and Pierre-Yves Colin Morey and are complemented with multiple bottlings from A.P. de Villaine, Bouchard Pere & Fils, Denis Bachelet and Gachot-Monot. Before we leave Burgundy we venture south to Beaujolais with 20+ wines with a wonderful selection of mostly Cru bottlings from producers like Marcel Lapierre, Dominique Piron and Chateau Thivin.
Our journey around France ends in Bordeaux with some wines from stunning vintages like 2000, 2005 and 2015 including wines from Ducru Beaucaillou, La Mission Haut-Brion and the RP100 05 Chateau Eglise Clinet. As well as the Group Duclot Collection there are First Growths galore with ‘95 Latour, ‘93 Cheval Blanc and multiple vintages of Margaux and Lafite.
Sweet and Fortified Wines (and Glassware)
Rounding off the catalogue we have bottles of ‘96 Y’quem and ‘18 Rieussec and Port from Graham’s (1977 & 1980) and Warre’s (1985) and a handful of Riedel Glassware two packs with $1 reserves.
