Our October Auction is the penultimate live auction of the year and features a stunning array of New Zealand and international wines both from recent vintages and from deep in the cellar. It will be hosted from 6pm (NZST) Tuesday 6 October at our Eden Terrace HQ and cellars and we warmly invite you to join us in person for the auction or to bid via our livestream.
This is one of our largest ever live auctions with close to 400 lots on offer with especially strong selections of icon NZ Pinot and Chardonnay, well-cellared Aussie reds, Bordeaux and Vintage Ports… Lovers of classic desert wines will be especially interested in our rich offering of Sauternes as well as Tokaj Aszu from Hungary and South Africa’s famous Vin de Constance.

New Zealand
Our auction starts with multiple vintages of some wonderful NZ Cabernet and Merlot blends including five vintages of Te Whau’s The Point (a wine which has recently generated enthusiastic bidding) and classics from the likes of Church Road / Tom, Stonyridge, Destiny Bay and Te Mata including several bottles from the famed 1998 vintage.
Pinot Noir is next and features wines from a range of benchmark producers including Bell Hill, Felton Road, Kusuda, Ata Rangi, Prophet's Rock and more… Of particular interest are older vintages from producers like Palliser, Fromm and Millton. A small offering of Syrah and other kiwi reds follow with wines from Trinity Hill, Smith & Sheth and Sato.
White wines round off our New Zealand offering with Chardonnay from Bell Hill (including a bottle of the ‘16 Limeworks), Kumeu River, Prophet’s Rock Cuvée Aux Antipodes Blanc and more followed by aromatics from Te Mata, Felton and Folium.
Australia
Australia offers a variety of classic, powerhouse Cabernet and Shiraz (and Cabernet / Shiraz) bottlings including wines from Penfolds (407, 389 and Grange); WA Cabernet from Houghton Estate and Cullen; and legendary wines from Wynns, Yalumba, and Barossa Valley Estate.
The Americas
From the USA we have Chardonnay from the iconic Au Bon Climat alongside Napanook and Othello Cabernet bottlings from Dominus Estate and an incredibly well reviewed ‘19 bottling of Chile’s Vina Almaviva.
Germany
Germany has a small selection of classic Rieslings from esteemed producers such as Donnhoff, Loosen, Selbach-Oster and Willi Schaefer.
Italy
We have a wonderful selection of Italian wines including classics from Tuscany like Ornellaia and Grand Reserva Chianti from Istine and Querciabella. When we get to Piedmont we have a deep offering on multiple vineyard bottlings and vintage and vintages of Cru Barolo and Barabreso from the greats: Pruduttori de Barberesco, Giuseppe Rinaldi, G.B. Burlotto, Gaja, Vietti, Sandrone and more.
France
We start our tour de France with a world-class selection of grower Champagne supplemented by Prestige Cuvée bottlings. We have multiple bottlings from Cedric Bouchard, Pascal Agarapart and Pierre Peters alongside Cristal, Vintage Pol Roger and ‘08 Dom Perignon, one of the most celebrated recent vintages.
We have an especially strong offering of Rhone wines which are led off by Hermitage from the iconic Jean Louis Chave who is joined by Cote Roite from Guigal and Yves Cuilleron. Chateauneuf is next and features multiple vintages from the ever popular Clos des Papes as well as wines from Pegau, Domaine de la Mordoree and Alain Jaume.
Red Burgundy is next and features multiple vineyard expressions and vintages from three producers: Bouchard Pere et Fils, Domaine de la Vougeraie and Domaine Chandon de Briailles. There are also sensational vintages from Comte Ligier Belair, George Roumier and Frederic Esmonin. When it comes to White Burgundy there is Aligote from Aubert de Villane, Pernot Belicard and Pierre Morey; Montrachet and Meursault from the likes of Henri Boillot, Caroline Morey and Etienne Sauzet; and some truly sensational Maconnaise whites from Jules Desjourney.
As well as Burgundy, there is an ample selection of phenomenal Bordeaux wines including First Growths from Latour, Lafite, and Margaux as well as St Emilion’s Cheval Blanc, alongside multiple vintages of wines like Lynch-Bages, Ducru Beaucaillou and Pichon Longueville including the RP100 2014 vintage. We also have whites from cult producers Domaine de Chevalier and Larrivet Haut Brion.
Fortified Wines
The auction is brought to a close with a selection of vintage port from the likes of Warre’s, Graham’s and Taylor’s.
